Jobs on offer as order book hits a high

-

AN ENGINEERING firm is recruiting after securing a ‘record breaking’ order book. Tees Components, based in North Skelton, is based at a six-acre site with one of the biggest machining capacities in the country.

The family run firm has been at the site for almost 60 years. Managing director Sharon Lane and her team have announced the recruitment campaign across a range of departments.

The order book has reached an all-time record of £3m with £1.75m worth of work received in the second quarter of 2022.

There are opportunities from apprentice and trainee level, to jobs for more experienced people across the business, from shop floor and engineering to admin.

New orders at the business, well known for its heavy industry machining expertise, include work for nuclear power station Hinkley C in Somerset, marine defence work on components for submarines and orders for the renewable industry sector including hydro power and offshore wind components. The firm also manufactures its own products and the export market is doing well, said Ms Lane.

“A couple of weeks ago we celebrated an all-time high in our order book, the highest amount of work we’ve had since our records began – we will celebrate 60 years next year,” she said.

“We are recruiting for eight new jobs in roles across the business ranging from admin and front of house to a technical sales and planning apprentice, roles on the shop floor for people who want to develop their skills to opportunities for people who already have manufacturing skills.”

Writing on the company website she said: “I’m delighted to see the hard work pay off for our team, and to see our clients show this confidence in us. More than anything we are excited to embark on these contracts – they are a brilliant blend of projects. We have fascinating new products which we’re excited about, we have critical British infrastructure projects, and also we’re involved in essential climate research work.”
