Missing teenager’s father in emotional ‘come home’ appeal

- STACEY MULLEN

RELATIVES of a teenager who has been missing from his home for more than a week have pleaded for him to return home.

A huge police search is under way for Scott Diver, 16, of Clydebank, who has not been seen since the afternoon September 17.

His concerned family – including father Scott and aunt Sharyn McHugh – made an emotional appeal for his safe return at a press conference yesterday.

The teenager, known to relatives as “Scotty”, is originally from the Isle of Man, and previously lived with his mother, before moving to the town in 2013 to live with his father. In a direct appeal, his father said: “Scotty, if you see this please get in touch. You are not in any trouble we just want you home or at least let us know you’re safe.

“All the family are missing you, especially me and Nana and your family in the Isle of Man.

“Can I ask anyone who might be helping Scott stay away from home to remember he relies on daily medication which he hasn’t had for at least ten days.

“You can contact us on the Missing Person’s text service on 116 000 through phone or text even if you have no credit.”

Inspector John Mullen, who is one of the leading officers on the case, advised that the Police Scotland’s support unit containing officers with specialist skills for missing people searches is involved.

Fields and wasteland as well as the Old Kilpatrick hills have also been searched because Scott enjoys camping.

A force helicopter has been brought in and social media is being checked for clues to his whereabouts.

Inspector Mullen added: “Like any teenager social media seems be part of his life.”

Police urge anyone who knows where he is to call them on 101 or e-mail them with information at: scottdiverinquiry@scotland.pnn. police.uk
