Rogue dealer supplied arms used in murders

A ROGUE firearms dealer who blamed the Dunblane massacre in 1996 for ruining the shooting community has been found guilty of supplying illegal handguns and home-made bullets used or found at more than 100 crime scenes, including three murders.

Paul Edmunds, 66, imported a Colt pistol used in a fatal shooting at a London nightclub and supplied ammunition used in two other killings and an attempt to shoot down a police helicopter.

The registered gun-dealer, who said in interview that he “didn’t give a sh**” who he sold to, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply firearms and ammunition and smuggling banned Colt handguns into the UK.

Birmingham Crown Court heard Edmunds and middleman Dr Mohinder Surdhar – likened by police to the lead characters in TV series Breaking Bad – acted together to supply antique revolvers and custom-made ammunition to criminal gangs.

Edmunds told officers he was “not responsible for the actions of somebody that buys some things”, adding his “duty of care” only extended to not selling to people who “didn’t look right”.

Edmunds said that after the Dunblane massacre, the firearms community had been “shafted”.

He was remanded in custody to be sentenced on December 20. THE father of a teenager who murdered his teacher said his son “very much regrets what he did and is desperate to find a route to get better”, an inquest has heard.
