nLockerbie’s David Murdoch continued to get his Chateau Challenge campaign back on track in Gatineau, Ottawa, last night, writes Lorin McDougall. The Olympic silver medallist lost his opening match on Thursday and only narrowly won his second, but he looked more like himself yesterday as he trounced the local skip JP Lachance 7-1. He meets another Canadian, Adam Casey, next. Perth’s Kyle Smith suffered a 6-4 loss to the European champion Sven Michel and knows that another defeat would mean elimination. nAberdeen’s Tom Brewster improved as he went on at the Champery Masters in Switzerland yesterday. The former world silver medallist, who won this month’s Swiss Cup in Basle, trailed Norway’s Thomas Lovold 7-4 before winning 8-7 at the first extra end, then thrashed the Dutchman Jaap Van Dorp 11-4. The Edinburgh junior Bruce Mouat beat Czech Jiri Snitil 5-2 but went down 5-4 to Swiss skip Marc Pfister. nDavid Edwards bounced back from a surprise opening loss to win his second match at the Scottish Curling Tour’s Forfar Open last night. The Aberdeen skip, who will represent Scotland at next month’s European Championships, looked off-colour as he was beaten 5-4 by Stirling’s Lee McCleary. He returned to beat John Duff’s team 6-2. Lockerbie’s Hannah Fleming has a 100 per cent record in the ladies event after defeating co-favourite Lauren Gray 8-4. Gray and Fleming had beaten Gina Aitken and Katie Murray in their opening round robin matches.
