1997 Jimmy Hill stepped down as Ful­ham chair­man after 10 years. 2001 Eng­land mid­fielder Owen Har­g­reaves was part of the Bay­ern Mu­nich side which beat Va­len­cia on penal­ties to win the Cham­pi­ons League fi­nal in Mi­lan. 2002 Roy Keane left the Repub­lic of Ire­land’s pre-World Cup train­ing camp on the Pa­cific is­land of Saipan after a row with na­tional team man­ager Mick McCarthy, who branded him ‘’a dis­rup­tive in­flu­ence’’. 2007 AC Mi­lan won the Cham­pi­ons League, beat­ing Liver­pool 2-1 in the fi­nal in Athens. 2012 QPR mid­fielder Joey Bar­ton was banned for 12 matches and fined £75,000 fol­low­ing his dis­missal against Manch­ester City on the fi­nal day of the Premier League sea­son. 2015 James DeGale won the IBF su­per-mid­dleweight ti­tle against An­dre Dir­rell, be­com­ing Great Bri­tain’s first box­ing Olympic cham­pion to win a world ti­tle.
