Jones determined to make his mark on Europa stage

-

JORDAN JONES is relishing the chance to showcase his talents on the Europa League stage as Rangers prepare for their clash with Midtjylland.

Steven Gerrard’s side have overcome St Joseph’s and Progres Niederkorn so far but now face their toughest test yet in the third qualifying round.

Rangers progressed through all four ties last term as they reached the group stages in Gerrard’s first campaign as Ibrox manager.

That will be the same aim for the club in the coming weeks and

Jones hopes his international exploits with Northern Ireland will stand him in good stead.

He said: “Every Europa League game is a big stage to play on and every player in the squad is desperate to play.

“The squad is very big, very strong and whoever gets the opportunity has to go and take it.

“It is a big plus that we have got a chance to [play European football] and now that I am here it is time to go and do it and get the results that we need.

“I think that [experience with Northern Ireland] helps. I have played quite a few away games now for Northern Ireland and I know what to expect and understand what is there. I think that can help. The gaffer has gone through that with the full team and defending is just as important as attacking, especially in away games.

“The aim is to keep a clean sheet, which is really important for us.

“I think we have to be confident. Like I said, the squad is very good so I don’t see any reason why we wouldn’t be confident going into any game.

“We need to be careful because it is the away game and as much as we want to score, we don’t want to concede any goals. Fingers crossed we will get the right result.”
