were waves of attack in the second half – but nothing really clear-cut.

“So that’s maybe something we need to work on. We need to show more composure so we can really cut teams open.

“The manager’s told us that next Saturday’s game with Connah’s Quay is another big game and it’s an opportunity for us to put things right. It could be important for our season

“We can get that winning feeling again and we can get the confidence sky high going into a big game at Dens the following week.”

Williamson has no doubts McCall is the man to resurrect Partick – even his dad Andy says so.

The full-back added: “I had heard good things about the manager before he came in from guys who had worked under him.

“My Dad actually played with him at Dunfermline years ago.

“I had heard his man management was very good and that’s been the case

“He has pulled boys aside and told them what he wants from them and the training’s been brilliant.

“The place has had a massive lift so that’s what makes Saturday such a disappointment because we so wanted to kick on after the Inverness result.

“But it’s a long season so we have to keep our heads up and go again.”

Queens boss Allan Johnston, meanwhile, hailed Brownlie’s matchwinning contribution – and tipped the 25-year-old to one day move on to bigger and better things.

“I’m delighted for Darren because he’s capable and he could play at a higher level,” Johnstone said.

“He’s a top player, hopefully he can kick on in his career now because he had a bad cruciate injury last year.”
