Happy homecoming for Raith’s Armstrong
DAN ARMSTRONG insists he does not regret taking a chance on Ross County but admits he is delighted to be back at Raith Rovers.
The former Wolves youngster returned to Rovers with a bang on Saturday as he sparked a secondhalf comeback in the 2-2 draw with title rivals Falkirk.
The 21-year-old sprang off the bench at the break to provide an assist for Michael Miller’s header before curling in a stunning equaliser with a late free-kick.
The winger spent 10 weeks at Raith last season before joining County in the January transfer window to help them win promotion back to the Premiership.
But, when it became clear he would struggle to be involved in the top-flight this term, he rejoined Rovers on Thursday before marking his second ‘debut’ in style.
He said: “The manager spoke to me a couple of minutes before halftime and asked me if I could go on and change the game.
“I said I would do my best and I was just glad to get on the pitch and help the boys out.
“Getting an assist and a goal was perfect. I signed on Thursday and trained Thursday night and Friday morning, and I was just happy to get on the pitch and do well.
“I loved my time here, just with the way it went. The way things went, I just wanted to challenge myself at a higher level [at County].
“But I loved working under the manager and Paul Smith and there was not a doubt in my mind that I wanted to come back.
“It’s a great club, with great people, and I’m glad the fans welcomed me back.”
