ECB move Bobat upstairs
MO BOBAT has been appointed performance director for men’s cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The 36-year-old has for the last three years been the governing body’s player identification lead but steps up to his new role after David Parsons vacated the position in July.
Bobat will work alongside new head coach Chris Silverwood and national selector Ed Smith to support the delivery of performance plans and selection strategy.
Ashley Giles, managing director of men’s cricket, said: “The position of performance director is a critical post. Mo demonstrated through his knowledge and experience he has the attributes to take us forward.” MAX Whitlock had a pommel scare as Great Britain finished fifth in the men’s team final at the World Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart.
Whitlock, who had topped qualifying for the individual final on Monday, came off midway through his routine but still scored an impressive score of 14.133 to keep his team in contention.
The British team totalled 251.611 behind winners Russia, who took gold for the first time.
