Santo left gutted by late equaliser

-

WOLVES manager Nuno Espirito Santo could feel hard done by after Chris Wood’s stoppage-time penalty hurt his side’s Champions League hopes in a 1-1 draw at Burnley.

Raul Jimenez’s 75th-minute strike had Wolves on course to keep the pressure on Manchester United and Leicester above them in the scramble for European places, but moments after missing a sitter for Burnley, Wood scored from the spot.

“Every goal you concede is hard to take and if it is in the final moments it is even harder,” said Nuno, whose side now need to make sure they do not let slip a Europa League place with Tottenham and Sheffield United close behind them.

“We played good, we were well organised on the pitch and it was a good game. The team were always in control, we managed the game well. You try to prepare good but after that sometimes justice in the game doesn’t exist.”
