Logan laughs off rumours over loan exit

-

SHAY LOGAN laughed off any suggestion that his loan transfer to Hearts has anything to do with the impending arrival of Scott Brown at Pittodrie as player/assistant manager next season.

The full-back, whose Aberdeen contract expires in the summer, has struggled for game time this season and only made 12 appearances for previous manager Derek McInnes, who left the club after eight years in charge last month.

Stephen Glass’s imminent arrival is expected to embark on a major clear-out at the club, with several players, including Logan, nearing the end of their current deals.

Brown, who publicly defended Celtic team-mate Aleksandar Tonev back in 2014 when the Bulgarian was accused – and later found guilty of – racially abusing Logan in a match at Pittodrie, has clashed with the full-back on the pitch several times as the rivalry between the two clubs rumbled on.

But any idea that Logan’s move to Tynecastle for the rest of their procession to the Championship title has anything to do with his relationship with Brown was dismissed by the defender.

Logan said: “No. On the pitch you have stuff with all sorts of players. It’s not that we didn’t get on – he played for Celtic, I played for Aberdeen, there was rivalry on the pitch.

“In terms of that, I’ve had fights like that with people on the pitch for the last eight years.

“I’ve got no personal vendetta against Scott Brown. I don’t think he’s got one against me.

“Him coming to Aberdeen has nothing to do with me leaving – my contract is up.”
