The athletics continues at the Alexander Stadium and Laura Muir begins her 1500m campaign this morning. She will be joined in the heats of the 1500m by her training partner, Jemma Reekie, who is looking to bounce back from the disappoint­ment of missing out on the final of the 800m. The women’s 400m semi-finals take place, with both Nicole Yeargin and Zoey

Clark looking to make the final while Heather Paton makes her Commonweal­th debut in the heats of the 100m hurdles.

In the diving, all Scottish eyes will be on Olympian, Grace Reid, who goes in the 1m springboar­d, the event in which she won gold four years ago. The heats are this morning with the final in the evening and the main challenger to her title defence is likely to once again be 2018 silver medallist, Georgia Sheehan from Australia.

There are high hopes for more success in the lawn bowls, with the para mixed pairs B2-B3 quartet of Melanie Innes, George Miller, Robert Barr and Sarah Jane Ewing playing for gold while the men’s four of Alex Marshall, Paul Foster, Darren Burnett and Stewart Anderson are in action in the quarter-finals, with the semi-finals later in the day. Iain McLean goes in the quarter-finals of the men’s singles.

Squash has reached the quarterfin­als, with Rory Stewart and Georgia Adderley aiming for a place in the last four as do Lisa Aitken and Greg Lobban in the mixed doubles. In the women’s doubles while in the men’s doubles, Lobban and Stewart and Alan Clyne and Douglas Kempsell go in the last 16.

The badminton tournament has reached the last 16, with Kirsty Gilmour in action in the women’s singles and Calum Smith in the men’s singles as well as several pairs featuring in the doubles events.

The table tennis continues, with Gavin Rumgay in the round of 32 in the men’s singles in his fifth Commonweal­th Games.
