Tiehi vows to ‘fight’ for Accies after sealing loan

- ALISON McCONNELL

JEAN-PIERRE TIEHI has vowed to “fight” for Hamilton Accies after checking in on a loan move from Fulham.

The 20-year-old emerged through Le Havre’s youth academy before heading to London, but he has yet to play a competitive game for Fulham.

A late call last week sent him north to Accies with the striker making a whirlwind start to his Hamilton career when he came off the bench at Firhill on Saturday. “I arrived on Friday,” he said. “The move went very quick. I had a call on Wednesday and Thursday and the manager spoke to me and I was very convinced about the project here.

“I had heard of Hamilton Accies because I have some Scottish friends who had spoken of the league and the club.

“Why I am here is simple. I want to help the team. I am a big team player. I am here to fight. I want to fight for the manager and for my team-mates. I am hungry for goals and hungry to do well here and help Hamilton hit their targets.”

The striker played the final 17 minutes of the game at the weekend and looked as though he will lend a physicality to Accies’ forward line.

Certainly, he is optimistic about making him mark with John Rankin’s side as he looks for regular competitive football.

“The Scottish league is a very physical league but I love physical stuff so that will suit me,” he said. “I have come here to help my club and I am ready to go again. It was a good game on Saturday. I thought the boys helped me and we were disappointed not to come away with the win but I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to next week.”
