Apple iPhone 7

What is it?

The latest update to Apple’s mobile phone product line. Interestingly, the usual fanfare that surrounds Apple releases has been noticeably reduced with the iPhone 7.

This is mainly due to the lack of new game-changing features such as the slick biometric login of the previous model which won widespread plaudits.

The evolution this time is more subtle and includes the removal of the headphone jack and the addition of some minor waterproofing to the case.

The missing sound port gives a slight boost in battery life but that’s about the extent of changes compared to the existing iPhone 6S.

Good points?

The same high-quality hardware you expect from Apple is present with some minor upgrades. The camera is now 12 megapixels compared to the 8MP of the iPhone 6 and the screen has been made a bit brighter with richer colours.

The decision to remove the trusty headphone jack has allowed the casing to become waterproof and means the phone has a larger battery than its predecessor.

Although not cheap, wireless ear-pods mean you no longer have to concern yourself with cables flapping and catching on zips and furniture.

Bad points?

The lack of genuine innovation is a disappointment and the increased battery life is barely noticeable.

Best for ...

Apple die-hards who crave the shiny new products as soon as they are released.

Avoid if ...

You are an iPhone 6 user as there is not much difference to the functionality on offer.
