Jamie Cooks Italy (C4, 8.30pm)

event during the past few years. He’s back again to narrate highlights from the 2018 pageant, which was once again held on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle. During the Tattoo’s long history, performers from around 50 countries have taken part, and this time, the United States Air Force Guard Drill Team, the Central Band of the Czech Armed Forces (who are making the debut in Edinburgh), the US’s Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes and Drums and Banda Monumental De Mexico are set to take part. The theme is “The Sky is the Limit”, with musical renditions to complement that before a lone piper, standing on the battlements, rounds off this unique annual performance.

Jamie Oliver and Gennaro Contaldo head to Naples to seek out the family recipes the locals love to eat, discovering a street snack that is said to predate the modern pizza, before giving a foolproof guide to making the ultimate one at home. On the island of Procida, Jamie is blown away by sensational seafood dishes, inspiring him to make a fish poached in “crazy water”, while there are recipes for a classic margherita and sausage and broccoli pizza, as well as tuna, courgette and crushed almond spaghetti.

Drinkers Like Me: Adrian Chiles (BBC2, 9pm)

Last year was not a good one for Adrian Chiles, at least not in footballing terms. His team West Bromwich Albion were relegated from the Premier League and you can imagine he drowned his sorrows after their fate was sealed. Chiles is a self-confessed social drinker, and he’s examining the subject in this documentary. Unlike many programmes about the demon drink, it doesn’t focus on alcoholism but rather the British trend to go out at the weekend and get sloshed with your mates. He also looks at underage drinking, something he admits he did when an ability to get your hands on booze was a way to impress your peers.

Riz Ahmed: Road to Englistan (BBC2, 10pm)

Nikki Bedi chats to the actor about his life and career, covering TV, films, music and politics, as well as his childhood and youth in Wembley and the obstacles he has had to overcome. Riz discusses working with Chris Morris on Four Lions, his Emmy-winning role in HBO drama The Night Of, starring in films including Nightcrawler, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Jason Bourne and new Marvel movie Venom, as well as his current project Englistan, a multi-generational drama he is writing for BBC2.

TUESDAY The Yorkshire Vet (C5, 8pm)

The series is back for a seventh run, but there have been some changes in Yorkshire – including a new veterinary surgery. While Peter Wright is still treating animals in Thirsk, his partner Julian Norton has set up shop in nearby Boroughbridge. He gets off to a dramatic start as he’s called to a pig that’s having a difficult labour and, because sows rarely have problems giving birth, Julian isn’t sure what to expect. Meanwhile, Peter comes to the aid of one of his favourite farming families, the Greens, when one of their calves is struck down, and also takes his work home with him when he tries to stop his new pet cat Toddy from developing some bad habits.

Marvel’s Inhumans s1 (Now TV/Sky On Demand, from Tue)

Big things were expected when this superhero series debuted last year. Sadly, low ratings meant it was axed after just one run of eight episodes. If you missed it first time around but are curious about the whole enterprise, here’s an opportunity to see it in its entirety. The Inhumans are an alien race with superpowers whose royal family are overthrown in a military coup. They escape to Hawaii, where they must save themselves, protect the planet and rescue their people.

Killer in our Classroom: Never Again (BBC3, from Wed, 10am)

Before February this year, it’s highly likely that few people in the UK had heard of the Majory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Then, on Valentine’s Day, it hit the headlines across the world when 19-year-old former pupil Nikolas Cruz opened fire on the premises, killing 17 pupils and staff members, and injuring 17 others. In the aftermath, survivors organised what became a global, youth-led movement, campaigning for stricter gun laws in America. Filming on this documentary began shortly after the tragedy and follows the lives of several pupils.
