Fashion’s Dirty Secrets: Stacey Dooley Investigates (BBC1, 9pm)

series one. That took place in Bristol, and the second run features older pensioners, and the nursery runs for twice as long. It remains to be seen whether an experiment of this length is sustainable and if the results can inspire long-term solutions in older care. Geriatric specialists will measure the impact of pre-schoolers on the mood, memory and mobility of the older group, while a child development specialist will oversee proceedings.

In an age when high street and online stores can make a fortune selling cheap clothing to cash-strapped customers, it seems like a win-win situation for everyone. But of course when Stacey Dooley’s name is attached to any project other than Strictly these days, you know there’s a dark side to it. She’ll travel the world to see how toxins released by the garment industry are polluting waterways that millions rely on. And there’s a jaw-dropping moment when she takes a look at what was the Aral Sea. At one time it was one of the largest bodies of fresh water, but it has been reduced almost to dust. After this show, you may think twice before snapping up the next cheap garment.

Black Earth Rising (BBC2, 9pm)

Blake Gaines, who has been handling Patrice Ganimana’s defence, seems to be in danger of falling foul of those paying his legal fees, while Alice Munezero tells Michael for the first time of her connection to Rwanda president Bibi Mundanzi. Kate’s rift with Michael deepens and she becomes increasingly driven to help the Rwandan government as it tries to extradite Ganimana to face justice. TUESDAY Love Your Home and Garden (STV 8pm)

Alan Titchmarsh and a team of architects, builders and gardeners transform the kitchen and garden of wheelchair-bound 15-year-old Josh, who has multiple disabilities. The kitchen is so tiny that Josh and his mum Benita cannot be in it together, and his wheelchair won’t fit through the back door so the garden is off-limits. Architects Ewald and George create a new layout in the house so Josh can move from the front door to the back garden with ease, and task builder Kunle turns the kitchen into a state-of-the-art conservatory so mother and son can cook together for the first time. In the garden, Titchmarsh creates a series of different rooms, each designed to appeal to different senses.

A Dangerous Dynasty: House of Assad (BBC2, 11.45pm)

The al-Assad family has ruled Syria since 1971. This three-part documentary exploring the dynasty’s background begins by focusing on the current president and first lady, Bashar and Asma, charting their rise to power and asking how a couple who were once seen as a modernising force ended up running a regime that stands accused of war crimes. Their love story has its roots in London, where Bashar was training to be an eye doctor at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, and British-born Asma was embarking on a career in investment banking. However, the death of Bashar’s older brother, who had been groomed for the job of

This Country – The Aftermath (BBC3, Wed)

The Bafta-winning mockumentary This Country is definitely a family affair – it was written by siblings Daisy May and Charlie Cooper, who also play cousins Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe. So perhaps it’s not surprising that the sitcom is at its most poignant when it touches on family relationships, particularly Kerry’s desperation to get close to her useless dad Martin (played by the Coopers’ real-life father Paul). The second series saw her being drawn into a criminal enterprise with her father, and eventually left her with a stark choice: save him or herself.

The Romanoffs (Amazon Prime Video, from Fri)

Matthew Weiner is the man with the Midas touch when it comes to TV. He was a writer and producer of The Sopranos during its final two seasons and went on to create Mad Men. He’s also the brains behind this new anthology drama series, so much is expected from it. Little has been released in terms of information, but what we do know is that its stories take place around the globe and focus on people who believe they are direct descendants from or have some other connection to the Russian royal family.

The Haunting of Hill House (Netflix, from Fri)

In photographs, Shirley Jackson looks like a typical 1950s housewife with pinned-back hair and neat spectacles. She married young, had four children and was married for many years, but she was anything but
