At Marius’ new lodgings in Paris, his neighbours are a poor, violent and criminal family. Their eldest daughter Eponine takes a shine to him, but then, while out walking, Cosette catches his eye. Valjean, on the other hand, is disturbed to see his precious Cosette growing into a young woman. Finally Javert, who has climbed the ranks of the police, receives some important informatio­n. Is he getting closer to his goal of recapturin­g an escaped prisoner?
