LIVE FOR THE WEEKEND

- BY EVA ARRIGHI

If I could send out an SOS for my hands then I might have to follow it up with a couple of flares and a loud klaxon. My hands have not been enveloped in protective gloves as much as they should have been over the winter and consequently their condition is nothing short of shocking. For someone so assiduous about slathering serums just about anywhere you can, I’ve always had a peculiar block where hand creams and care are concerned, which is ridiculous as, even more than your face, this is the area that is constantly exposed to the elements and the thinner skin on our hands needs special care. These ravaged claws with a highly attractive crepe paper texture are going to take a miracle to fix. Which, fingers crossed, La Mer’s new Rejuvenating Hand Serum comes in. La Mer’s trademarked cell renewing Miracle Broth harnesses nutrient-rich sea kelp to smooth and plump up the hydration levels to keep skin looking healthy. A Clarifying Ferment restores brightness and a Strengthening Blend of plantbased ingredients and lipids aims to reinforce the skin barrier to increase resilience. Is this an expensive gamble? Especially when, as suggested, you layer it with La Mer’s Hand Treatment? Quite possibly, and I’m sure there are other options out there, but I’m saying a little prayer that this renewed self-care regime will salve my mitts so I’m going to dig deep and dive into the luxurious end of hand care.

La Mer Rejuvenating Hand Serum, £95, 48ml. La Mer The Hand Treatment, £82, 100ml. Both available at La Mer (www. cremedelamere.co.uk); John Lewis (www.johnlewis.com) and House of Fraser (www. houseoffraser.co.uk)
