Paris is Us (Netflix, from Friday)
We’re heading to France for Netflix’s latest continental film. The romantic drama stars Swiss actress Noemie Schmidt, who is best known for her portrayal of Henrietta of England in the lavish series Versailles; she appears alongside Gregoire Isvarine. She plays Anna, a young twentysomething living in the city who escapes a brush with death in a plane crash. Her second chance at life inspires her to look back at her past but she becomes caught in a bizarre spiral involving reality, her dreams and lost opportunities. Isvarine portrays Greg, with whom Anna becomes involved, although their relationship could be threatened by the rising social tensions, protests and tragedies that threaten to envelop the city.

Across the course of three episodes we get to know Sam, Reece and Christian, who are fresh out of prison but with a constant reminder of their time inside: an electronic tag that charts their every move. They agreed to wear it so that they could be released from their sentences early, but it means they have to stick to a strict curfew and rules they find constricting. Sam is particularly frustrated – he wants to land a job at a pork pie factory but it involves working night shifts, something his tag won’t allow. If he or the others break the conditions of their release, they could be immediately sent back to jail – are any of the trio willing to take the risk?
