Jason Momoa is known to millions around the world for his role as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. As a result, you would imagine that the series inspired by George RR Martin’s books would be his favourite project, but you’d be wrong. Instead, that honour goes to this epic drama, one of the first original projects to hit the Apple TV+ platform. It’s set many centuries in the future, after a virus had blinded the Earth’s population. Momoa plays Baba Voss, the father of twins who have been born with the mythic ability to see, and it’s up to the patriarch to save his offspring from the clutches of a dangerous queen who wants to kill them.

Dickinson (Apple TV+, available now)

Hailee Steinfeld is still only 22 years of age, but has already had the kind of career most performers can only dream about. She first made people sit up and take notice via her Oscarnominated role in the Coen brothers’ revamp of True

Grit, and has since appeared in the likes of Ender’s Game and the Pitch Perfect film franchise; she’s also a singer. Steinfeld can now be seen playing real-life 19th century American poet Emily Dickinson in this comedy series. Literary fans should not expect a biopic; instead, this is an anachronistic look at her life and times - indeed, Dickinson spent much of her adult life as a recluse, which wouldn’t make particularly interesting viewing.

For All Mankind (Apple TV+, available now)

What would have happened if the USSR had won the space race by landing a man on the Moon before Nasa? Would America have quietly bowed out, allowing their rivals to dominate the skies? You can’t really imagine that would be the case, and this alt-history mini-series offers a view of how things might have turned out, suggesting that the competition between the two nations would continue as they pushed each other to greater things. The story begins in the late-1960s as a cosmonaut steps into the Moon, leaving those working on Nasa’s project devastated. But they’re determined not to be beaten, and set about creating a new challenge. Joel Kinnaman heads the cast, while Chris Agos, Matt Battaglia, Ryan Kennedy and Jeff Branson play reallife astronauts Buzz Aldrin, John Glenn, Michael Collins and Neil Armstrong.

Green Eggs and Ham (Netflix, from Fri)

In 1960, Theodor Seuss Geisel - or Dr Seuss, to you and me - published what turned out to be one of his most popular books. Green Eggs and Ham has gone on to sell around eight million copies worldwide and has a very simple story - an unnamed character who does not like the meal is persistently followed by his adversary, Sam-I-Am, who wants him to eat it. Featuring just 50 different words in total, the tome quickly became a favourite with children learning to read. In 1973, a cartoon adaptation featured in the TV special Dr Seuss on the Loose, but now it’s been turned into a standalone series. The expanded storyline follows Guy-Am-I and Sam-I-Am as they embark on a crosscountry trip in an attempt to save an endangered animal. Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton are among the vocal cast.
