What is it?

A feature-rich AI wireless IP66 weatherproof security camera from Xiaomi.

Good points?

Set up is a breeze with no cables to tangle or snake through the house. A series of simple smartphone app steps has it up and running within a few minutes.

The high-definition image is crystal clear, day or night, thanks to the professional, self-driven infrared night-vision technology. This combined with cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) that can not only track object movement but also identify and differentiate humans from other animals, means the system is fully automated and eliminates false alarms.

Notifications provide quick and efficient methods for handling scenarios that require your attention such as a deliveries or other home visits. The in-built microphone and speaker allow two-way conversation from anywhere in the world.

A host of other features such as fourmonth battery life, data encryption and free lifetime cloud storage are also included.

Bad points?

Although the AI algorithms impressively track objects across the camera’s field of view, it is limited by the device’s fixed position. It would have been nice to see the camera move and pan with the object to maximise it is time onscreen.

Best for ...

Those who want a simple but powerful solution they can quickly set up and leave to do its job.

Avoid if ...

All you want to monitor is a relatively small area, such as the location of an oft-pilfered office fridge, as incorporating AI and twoway communication is probably a step too far.

Score: 9/10
