Spectre (2015) (STV, 8.30pm)

The last theatrical­ly released Bond adventure to date sees the newly appointed M (Ralph Fiennes) battling political forces, to protect the integrity of MI6 following a merger with MI5. A cryptic message reveals ghosts from Bond’s past and 007 (Daniel Craig) follows a chain of evidence. Aided by technical wizard Q (Ben Whishaw) and plucky agent Eve Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), Bond criss-crosses the globe and infiltrate­s a menacing organisati­on named SPECTRE.

The Strangers: Prey at Night (Film4, 10.50pm)

Married couple Cindy (Christina Hendricks) and Mike (Martin Henderson) arrive at a trailer park under the cloak of darkness with their son Luke and belligeren­t teenage daughter Kinsey. The parents hope to spend precious time with their children before Kinsey goes to boarding school. Kinsey storms off and Luke hurriedly follows in the hope he can placate his sister. Instead, the siblings stumble upon a horrific tableau of slaughter. The Strangers: Prey at Night goes from one brutal skirmish to the next, stitching together set pieces with scenes of family bonding.

Big Eyes (2014) (Film4, 5.05pm)

In 1958 California, Margaret Hawkins (Amy Adams) leaves her husband with young daughter Jane (Delaney Raye) in tow. They settle in San Francisco where Margaret’s spooky pictures of street children catch the eye of fellow painter

including Liam Gallagher, Rob Beckett and Jack Whitehall, although presumably Abbey Clancy, aka Mrs Crouch, didn’t take too much persuading to put in an appearance. But who will be joining,Peter TV and BBC Radio 1 presenter Maya Jama and Taskmaster’s Alex Horne and his comedy band the Horne Section on tonight’s show, as they prove that despite the cancellati­on of a host of events, this summer won’t be a washout?
