OCCUPYING an elevated semi-rural setting on the outskirts of Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire, Whinniehill is a real charmer – a country cottage in every sense including a private driveway, expansive garden grounds, double garage, garden shed and south-facing front deck with a fire pit and views over the surrounding countryside.
Inside, period features combine with modern fixtures and fittings and cosy open fires … best of all, this country cottage is close to Allander Toll and only a short distance from Milngavie town centre amenities, railway station and host of leisure/sports facilities and country walks, including the 96-mile West Highland Way route which starts in the centre of the town.
Whinniehill dates from the 1820s and was extended in the 1960s to create a sizeable family home on one level, accessed by a stable-style split front door which opens into a vestibule and hallway, leading to an attractive living room, adjoining dining room (both public rooms have focal fireplaces and open fires), well-equipped fitted kitchen with modern units, Belfast sink and range cooker, three bedrooms – two with built-in storage, while one is presently used as a study – and fully tiled family shower room.
Notable features include original wood floors and French doors in the living room which open onto the south-facing deck, an inviting outdoor space at this time of year with its circular firepit coupled with the cottage’s external lighting and decorative wrought iron window shutters. The garden grounds extend to around one third of an acre and incorporate an attractive modern shed and detached double garage. Whinniehill offers a country lifestyle while still being within easy reach of schools, transport links and everyday necessities – offers over £370,000 are invited by Chris Maitland at Keller Williams UK.
GLASGOW-based housebuilder Ambassador Living has ventured east for the first time as work in now underway on the firm’s first east coast development in South Queensferry – aptly named Forthview.
Located close to the Firth of Forth, the site offers outstanding views of the three bridges – a key incentive for the development’s mix of three, four and five-bedroomed villas, which includes bespoke house types designed especially for this location.
There will also be one and two-bedroomed apartments and 32 affordable homes. Prices range from £284,000 to £433,000.
