Six ways to beat lockdown and get your arts fix this week

Part of the Terra Foundation for American Art Series: New Perspectiv­es, Resilient Responses takes a look at new works from some of the most intriguing artists working in performanc­e, dance and music. The material was performed live to camera in the empty tanks of the Tate Modern. Watch the artists’ performanc­es, followed by reflection­s from them, as they explore ideas around identity, isolation, alienation and human resilience amid a pandemic.

REGENCY AESTHETICS: THE COSTUMES, LOCATIONS AND DECOR OF BRIDGERTON

If you too have become obsessed with Bridgerton (pictured) since it started streaming on Netflix in December, this lecture from Homewood Museum is for you. Michelle Fitzgerald, curator of the Johns Hopkins University Museums, will be talking about the material world of the show and investigat­ing what it might be able to tell us about what life in the early 19th century was really like.

LOUVRE MUSEUM LIVE INTERACTIV­E VIRTUAL TOUR

Although unable to see it in person, there is still the option to take a guided tour of the Louvre in Paris – and without the queues. This virtual guided tour is run by an expert in Louvre art and history, so there’s a chance to ask any questions you might have. Featuring works such as the Mona

STREET ART EXPERIENCE

If street art is more your scene, check out this Brooklyn tour and see some of the finest examples of the genre in the world. Beginning in a New York coffee shop filled with incredible artwork, you’ll head on a guided tour through hip East Williamsbu­rg to see dozens of commission­ed murals. Heading back in time to the 1970s, you’ll learn about the city’s early graffiti, followed by a visit to Bushwick Collective – the largest outdoor street art gallery in the US – all led by an expert.

EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY

Available from the Maddox Gallery in Gstaad, Switzerlan­d, this is a chance to see behind the scenes of some of Terry O’Neill’s celebrity photograph­s. In the first retrospect­ive of his work since he passed away last November, the exhibition is being displayed in an immersive virtual gallery. Featuring images including a recently colourised picture of Frank Sinatra on the

Miami Boardwalk, Faye Dunaway the morning after her Oscar win and many more must-see images, each picture is accompanie­d by stories from O’Neill’s perspectiv­e.

WHIPLINES, WATERFALLS AND WORMS – ED MOSES

This exhibition from JD Malat Gallery showcases the adventurou­s works from Ed Moses’ last two decades. The American artist and former boyfriend of Marilyn Monroe was a key figure in transformi­ng LA into a modern art hub after the war and now you can see some of his famous works by watching this virtual tour of the gallery in London.
