This new multi-venue event follows on from the success of The Great Western Festival, which debuted in Glasgow’s west end in 2019. The life and work of Màiri Mhòr nan Òran, a nurse and prolific songwriter from Skye, will be celebrated in a two-day community gathering. Her poetry celebrates many aspects of Gaelic culture, as well as shinty – the sport of the Gaels. In addition to presentations on Màiri Mhòr from Dr Priscilla Scott, Professor

Night Walk for Edinburgh is a 50-minute walk through the Old Town of Edinburgh after dark. Following a film on your tablet or smart phone and a soundtrack on your headphones, you will walk up Advocate’s Close and along a route that weaves around the Royal Mile before returning to where you started. Follow Janet Cardiff’s voice for a journey unravelling a disjointed tale – part game-playing, part surrealistic poetry, perhaps even a murder mystery – layered with history, invention and memories. https://www.fruitmarket.co.uk
FAMILY KITE MAKING

The Havana film festival returns to Glasgow for a celebration of Cuban film and culture in Havana’s twinned city of Glasgow. HOWARDENA PINDELL:
A NEW LANGUAGE

This is Howardena Pindell’s first solo exhibition in a public organisation in the UK, and it takes its cue as well as its title from her.
