was a complete unknown before he appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018. It proved to be a good move for him – he won the hearts of the viewers during his run to the final, fell in love with his pro partner Dianne Buswell and received a massive boost to his profile, so much so that he’s now the subject of the sixth episode of this series. He’s joined on the show by his sister, fellow social media star Zoe, aka Zoella, and together they discover their greatgreat-great grandfathe­r was also a communicat­ion pioneer – he was involved in electrical telegraphs.

Matisse: From Tate Modern & MoMA (Sky Arts, 9pm)

Henri Matisse was widely regarded as one of the most significan­t artists of the last century, and the Frenchman’s technique of cutting out painted pieces of paper to create works of art was considered ground-breaking. He artist began the process “drawing with scissors” in 1943 while in his 70s, following a bitter divorce and amid the Nazi occupation of France. Rupert Young narrates this journey behind the scenes of Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs, filmed at exhibition­s in Manhattan’s Museum of Modern Art and London’s Tate Modern.

Miriam and Alan: Lost in Scotland (C4, 9.15pm)

Miriam Margolyes and Alan Cumming’s motorhome trundles through some amazing scenery as Alan reveals he has a dream – to find the perfect place in which to become a recluse. Unfortunat­ely, the local midge population puts him off, prompting Miriam to hunt for a scientific method of dealing with the pesky insects. The duo then demonstrat­e their versatilit­y by recording a song in Gaelic, although Miriam’s attempts at percussion leave a lot to be desired. Perhaps taking part in a mountain race and a meeting with a pagan witch will put the smile back on her face.

What We Do in the Shadows (BBC2, 10.05pm)

After receiving an invitation from their neighbours Sean and Charmaine, the vampires leave the safety of their own home to visit Atlantic City, and are soon rather taken with a local casino. They decide to sleep all day and continue trying to win money every night, but their plan looks set to be ruined when the overzealou­s housekeepi­ng team at their hotel clean up all the ancestral soil they’d brought with them to scatter under their beds – without it, they will lose their power. As ever, Guillermo is the one who has to sort out the problem – if only Sean’s gambling issues could be solved so easily...
