Deadline (C5, 9pm)

James D’Arcy takes the lead in this new thriller as James Alden, who was a rising star in journalism until a terrible mistake derailed his career. Now, he’s reduced to making trashy documentaries, but he’s given a chance to get back on track when he’s contacted by Natalie Varga (Charlie Murphy), who is suspected of murdering her rich Hungarian husband. She tells him that if he can find the real killer, she’ll give him the exclusive interview that everyone wants. However, the investigation isn’t going to be easy, and there’s also the question of what James desires most – the scoop or Natalie herself?

DNA Journey (STV, 9pm)

The bosses at ITV may deny it, but this genealogy show has clearly been inspired by the success of BBC One’s Who Do You Think You Are? The format is slightly different in that it features two pairs of famous faces working together to uncover fascinating facts about their ancestors, with Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff, and Ant and Dec among the previous pairings. The series returns this week for its new run, which has been split in two. We’ll be treated to three episodes featuring ice skating stars Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, and actors Maureen Lipman and Rula Lenska, although it’s The Chase duo Anne Hegerty and Shaun Wallace who get the ball rolling. After the first three programmes air there’s a break until the autumn before four more couples enter the fray.

WEDNESDAY

That’s the concept behind this new six-part series fronted by Emma Willis and Nick Grimshaw. The duo are teaming up to transform family homes across the country in just three days with the help of one life-changing truck. In the first edition, the duo are in Eastbourne to help Becca, Sam and their four children, who are struggling for space in those messy early years of parenting. Armed with innovative data that reveals exactly how the family use their home, resident interior designer Alex Dauley is on hand with a solution. She has devised plans for their living room, conservatory and bedrooms.

ranging from rustic chic to romantic, each designer takes a different approach to turning these compact spaces into luxury accommodation. Joining Michelle Ogundehin to judge the end results is interior designer and TV personality Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, and they agree that two of the huts are pitched perfectly at the target market. However, they are less sure about the other three.

Kate & Koji (STV, 9pm)

The first episode of the sitcom’s latest run had more than a tinge of tragic newsworthiness about it, in light of the current Ukraine’s refugee crisis. Koji’s (Okorie Chukwu) struggles with British immigration continued, and although he

is qualified medic, as an asylum seeker, he still wasn’t allowed to practice. Thankfully, his friend Kate (Brenda Blethyn) is on hand to offer support, and she does so again this evening when Koji wrestles with a romantic dilemma. Despite his disastrous track record, Koji decides to take a chance on love. With Kate determined to give him pointers, what could possibly go wrong?
