Hibs slip up against Pars

-

HIBERNIAN missed a chance to pull further clear at the top when they surrendered a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw with Dunfermline at Easter Road last night.

Martin Boyle gave Hibs an early lead and Jason Cummings made it 2-0 from the penalty spot after 24 minutes before Paul McMullan quickly pulled a goal back and Kallum Higginbotham equalised in the opening minute of the second half.

Dunfermline could have won it, with Michael Moffat hitting the crossbar and Ofir Marciano pulling off a terrific save to keep out Nicky Clark’s header.

Dundee United were held 1-1 at home by Morton. Morton took the lead six minutes from the break when Lee Kilday met a Ross Forbes free-kick to power home a header.

Dundee United stepped it up in the second half but Cammy Bell saved them from falling further behind midway through the second half when he blocked Forbes. Mark Durnan spared United defeat when he nabbed a late equaliser.

Falkirk could have gone second by beating Dumbarton but had to settle for a 2-2 draw in an entertaining game at the Falkirk Stadium.

Luke Leahy gave Falkirk the lead late in the first half but Lewis Vaughan equalised within a minute with a shot from a tight angle.

Andy Stirling gave Dumbarton the lead with an emphatic finish before Nathan Austin equalised after an hour with a close-range finish.

“That’s seven games unbeaten and yet here I am very, very disappointed,” Falkirk manager Peter Houston said. “We’re just not producing what we should.”

Queen of the South beat Raith Rovers 2-1 at Palmerston with John Rankin scoring early on with a shot from the edge of the area and Derek Lyle adding a second from close range 10 minutes from the break. Jean-Yves M’Voto headed a goal back for Raith but it was not enough to change the outcome.
