Morrison hits four for champions in waiting

-

CALLUMN MORRISON scored all four goals as runaway cinch League One leaders Falkirk thumped Edinburgh City 4-1 – but it was not enough to secure the league title just yet.

The 24-year-old striker scored twice from the penalty spot and bagged two more in between to take his tally for the season to 23.

Momodou Sambou hit a consolation for already-relegated Edinburgh in the last minute.

Hamilton Accies kept Falkirk’s promotion party champagne on ice by winning 3-1 at Cove Rangers.

Connor Scully’s own goal put the visitors ahead but he made up for his error with a fine drive to equalise after the break.

However, in the last 10 minutes Euan Henderson tapped Hamilton ahead and Kevin O’Hara sealed the victory.

Annan boosted their bid to beat the drop with a 3-2 win over Kelty Hearts.

They raced into a three-goal lead through Aidan Smith, Lewis Hunter and Benjamin Luissint before Michael Tidser pulled one back before half time.

Craig Johnston reduced the arrears to one shortly after the break but Annan held on, while the visitors had Thomas O’Ware sent off late on.

Goals in each half from Joel Mumbongo and Craig McGuffie earned Queen of the South a 2-0 win at Alloa, and Kieran Offord’s stoppage-time strike gave Stirling a 1-0 win against Montrose.

In League Two, leaders Stenhousemuir edged another point closer to promotion with a goalless draw at home to second-placed Peterhead.

Dumbarton moved level on points with Peterhead after goals from Tony Wallace and substitute Blair Malcolm sank Bonnyrigg Rose 2-0.

Jack Healy’s late goal gave East Fife a 2-1 win over Stranraer, Elgin drew 1-1 with Forfar and Clyde against Spartans finished goalless.
