Product is recalled over allergy risk

-

ASDA is recalling packs of sponge puddings fearing they could trigger dairy allergies because “milk” is not highlighted in bold on the packaging.

The two-packs of “Syrup Sponge Puddings” have skimmed milk powder listed in their ingredients.

But the supermarket is recalling them because the packs, sold before June and with best before dates between March 16-31, 2017, do not have the ingredient written in bold.

Asda said: “If you have purchased some of the Asda 2 Syrup Sponge Puddings please be aware that this product is not suitable for anyone with a milk allergy. You may return the packs to your nearest store for a full refund.”

The Food Standards Agency said Asda is voluntarily recalling the product after receivingcomplaints.

A spokesman said: “This means the product is a risk for anyone with an allergy to milk or milk constituents.”
