Man dies after motorcycle hits stone dyke

A MOTORBIKE crash in Ayrshire has left one man dead and another fighting for his life.

Both men were travelling on the Suzuki motorcycle at 6.15am yesterday when it struck a stone dyke, causing the pair to be thrown off the vehicle.

A 23-year-old died at the scene in Boig Road, near Nith Bridge, New Cumnock. His name has not been released.

The second man was taken to Ayr Hospital, where staff yesterday described his condition as being critical.

Police are investigat­ing the incident.

Constable Yvonne Cambridge, of the Divisional Road Policing Unit in Irvine, said: “We are trying to establish the identity of the injured man and the circumstan­ces of the crash. Anyone with informatio­n should call us on 101.”
