Tributes as football coach killed in crash

-

TRIBUTES have been paid to young football coach who died in a car crash.

Kieran Innes, 24, suffered fatal injuries in the collision on the A90 just north of Forfar, Angus, at around 7.45am on Tuesday.

No other vehicle was involved in the accident, which forced the temporary closure of a southbound lane while police investigated.

Youth club Middlefield Wasps said Mr Innes, from Aberdeen, was one of their coaches.

In a tribute on their Facebook page, a spokesman said: “It’s with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes I write this, but today we lost our 2006 coach Kieran Innes in a car crash at the age of 24.

“Kieran also ran our disability football.

“He loved all his players, who will miss him dearly.

“I had the honour of calling this man my mate. The Wasps family has lost a true gent who will be sorely missed. He loved the Wasps.

“Thoughts go to the Innes family.

“As a mark of respect we will be doing a minute’s applause at each Wasps game this weekend.”
