Red Arrows to give display in China

-

THE Red Arrows are being deployed on a 60-day tour, including a display at a Chinese air show, to promote the “best of British”.

The tour will begin with a flypast in Amman, Jordan, and go on to include displays in India, China and at the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix.

Typhoons are also being deployed to the Asia-Pacific region to take part in training in Malaysia, Japan and Korea in what is being called Exercise Eastern Venture.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier, the chief of Air Staff, said the plans had been in development since 2014 – but that it would help underline Britain as a “global player” in the wake of the Brexit vote.

He said: “It’s about sending that message the UK is a confident, major world player and reinforcing our prosperity.

“The Red Arrows demonstrate the best of the Royal Air Force.”

The world-famous aerobatic display team will take 12 Hawk T1s from their base in RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire and perform in China for the first time, including a date at the Zhuhai airshow.
