Oil work restarts after protest

-

PETROFAC has restarted operations on a big gas field in Tunisia which had been disrupted by protestors.

The head of Petrofac’s operations in the North African country, Imed Darouich, told the agency that operations on the Chergui field on Kerkennah island restarted on Monday.

Reuters reported Tunisian officials struck a deal to end the protests at Chergui, which started in January amid frustration about high unemployment in the country.

Petrofac has big oil and gas services operations in Scotland and made hefty losses on a contract to build a terminal to process gas from Laggan Tormore, off Shetland.
