Puzzle over ‘Swedish defence adviser’

A WAVE of puzzlement is rippling across Sweden after a prominent Fox News programme featured a “Swedish defence and national security adviser” who is unknown to the country’s military and officials.

Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly convened an on-air face-off over Swedish immigration and crime between a Swedish newspaper reporter and a man identified as a “Swedish defence and national secuYesterday, foreignaffairs rity adviser”, Nils Bildt.

But the Swedish Defence Ministry and Foreign Officesaid they knew nothing of him.

The programme’s executive producer said Mr Bildt was recommended by people the show’s booker consulted.
