Outbreak of fleas sees school close
ALL 420 pupils at Alness Academy in Easter Ross are being given the day off today because of an outbreak of fleas.
Specialists are to be sent in for infestation cleaning.
Rector Laura Gordon, told parents: “The school has a mild flea infestation and the building needs to be treated accordingly. This will involve spraying all the floor areas by specialist contractors.
“This work requires a period of four days to complete. Therefore, the school will be closed to all pupils and staff on Friday to allow this work to be undertaken with minimum disruption to pupils’ schooling.”
The school is also shut on Monday for the May 1 holiday.
