Council to sue consultants
A COUNCIL has started legal action after poisonous gas from old mine workings seeped into homes at a new housing estate, leaving residents battling illness.
The £6 million housing estate in Newbyres Crescent, Gorebridge in Midlothian, had to be demolished last year, after potentially deadly carbon dioxide seeped into the homes.
Six people were hospitalised after the problem first emerged in 2013.
Midlothian Council has started legal action against consultants involved in preparing the site. The case has been deferred for a further hearing.
