Acid trial told of evidence ‘overwhelms’
JURORS in a trial of two men for an acid attack on an investigative journalist have been told the evidence against one of them is “utterly overwhelming”.
William Burns, 56, and Alexander Porter, 48, deny the “horrific” attack on Scottish
Sun’s Russell Findlay at his home in the west end of Glasgow days before Christmas 2015.
Richard Goddard, prosecuting, said the evidence against Mr Burns was “overwhelming” and there was a strong circumstantial case against Porter. He added: “[They] operated as a team. Mr Burns was the attacker – the hitman if you like – and Mr Porter was the getaway driver.
“There is enough evidence to convict each man. If two people act together each is responsible not just for what they do, but for what the other does.” The trial continues.
