Bank chief to sleep in park
THE Royal Bank of Scotland’s chief executive Ross McEwan has signed up to sleep rough at a charity event to highlight the plight of the homeless.
He is to take part in the world’s biggest sleepout, which takes place in Edinburgh on December 9. Sleep In The Park aims to raise £4 million to eradicate homelessness in Scotland within five years.
He joins fellow business leaders Bob Keiller, chairman of Scottish Enterprise, Gordon Dewar, chief executive of Edinburgh Airport, and Adam McVey, City of Edinburgh Council leader, in lending their support to the event and accepting the sleepout challenge.
About 9,000 people are expected to participate in the event in West Princes Street Gardens.
