Researchers to share slice of £2m funding
MORE than 100 academic researchers will receive more than £2 million from the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) to investigate the commercial potential of their work.
The awards from the charity highlight Scotland’s research sector and the contribution it makes to development, economy and wellbeing.
Projects come from a diverse range of areas such as romantic national song culture in the UK; gravitational waves; and cognitive predictors of mathematics skills in children with ADHD.
The 19 beneficiaries will receive funding, training and mentorship. Dr Rotimi Alabi, founder of RAB-Microfluidics, is using his award to support the commercialisation of “microfluidic technology” which analyses oil in the environment and enhances processing.
