MP steps aside in Labour role
A MEMBER of Jeremy Corbyn’s front bench team has stood aside from her shadow cabinet role while she is investigated over an “employment issue”.
Shadow work and pensions secretary Debbie Abrahams, who has been leading Labour’s fight against the Government’s benefit cuts, will be temporarily replaced by her deputy Margaret Greenwood while an inquiry is carried out.
It is understood Ms Abrahams has been the subject of a number of complaints, although no details have been released.
A Labour spokesman said: “Debbie Abrahams has stood aside from her front bench role while the Labour Party investigates an employment issue.”
