Turkish plane crash kills 11

-

SHAHR-E KORD: At least 11 people were on board a private Turkish plane that has crashed while flying through Iranian air space.

Iran’s state-run news agency asriran.com also quoted the country’s Civil Aviation Organisation spokesman, Reza Jafarizadeh, as saying the jet crashed near Shahr-e Kord, a city about 230 miles south of Tehran.

The semi-official Fars news agency reported the plane took off from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and was heading to Istanbul, in Turkey.

In February, an Iranian ATR-72, a twin-engine turboprop used for short-distance regional flying, crashed in southern Iran, killing all 65 people on board.
