MASK OF SORROW
It’s fair to say that the bank holiday brings with it the risk of overzealous drinking. Sarah Young takes a look at the best remedies for skin, for when things get a little bit out of hand
With the bank holiday weekend upon us, a few glasses – or bottles – of bubbly is almost inevitable. But regardless of how much you guzzle, a night on the town is sure to not only leave you with a sore head but also play havoc with your appearance. Sure, a greasy full English and a couple of paracetamol pills will get you on your way but they’re certainly not going to cure that sallow complexion, desert dry skin and eye bags. Fear not though, because there are some versed beauty tricks that you can take to restore your skin and mask some of those telltale hangover signs.
De-puffing eye masks
Using some energising eye masks will instantly perk you up. These pre-moistened pads from Estee Lauder hydrate and sooth the skin with targeted anti-stress and anti-fatigue ingredients like aloe vera and cucumber.
Super-hydrating moisturiser
A heavy night can leave you with seriously dehydrated skin but that’s nothing a hyaluronic acid packed moisturiser can’t fix. Heal parched skin with a product like Mario Badescu’s Hydrating Moisturiser which is rich in antioxidants and collagen that will work to nourish and soften dry skin.
CC cream
It can be tempting to slather on a heavy foundation to cover up that washed-out complexion but the drying effects of alcohol mean it will sit awkwardly on the skin. Instead, use a product like the L’Oreal Paris Nude Magique CC Cream that will work to even out your skin tone and hydrate all at the same time.
Bright lip
If all else fails, you can’t go wrong with a slick of red lipstick to create a welcome distraction from your beauty woes. Make sure to opt for a shade that will warm your skin tone – blue undertones will suit fair complexions while medium and darker skin works well with orange-based reds – and that the formula is creamy and moisturising on the lips.
