Aca­demic gets Mid East book grant

AN ACA­DEMIC from Edge Hill Univer­sity, Lan­cashire, has won a £37,000 grant from the Arts and Hu­man­i­ties Re­search Coun­cil for a book look­ing at the in­flu­ence of Bri­tish pol­icy on the Mid­dle East dur­ing the First World War.

Dr James Ren­ton, who is writ­ing The Mid­dle East: The Rise and Fall of an Idea, said: “The story of Bri­tain’s po­lit­i­cal in­flu­ence on the re­gion has a lot to tell us about the chal­lenges that cur­rently face the Mid­dle East.”
