Sol­dier’s grave des­e­crated in Libya

THE GRAVE of a Jewish sol­dier killed in ac­tion in Libya in the Sec­ond World War was among those des­e­crated by van­dals in a Bri­tish mil­i­tary ceme­tery in the city of Beng­hazi. The Jewish Mil­i­tary Mu­seum said it was sad­dened to learn that the head­stone of Sec­ond Lieu­tenant Harold James Adler was one of more than 200 dam­aged in the at­tack in late Fe­bru­ary.

Lt Adler, who served with the Ri­fle Brigade in Egypt and Libya, was killed on Fe­bru­ary 25 1942.
