MUSLIMS BREAK RAMADAN FAST IN SHUL
MUSLIMS BROKE the Ramadan fast with a kosher meal at the North Western Reform Synagogue on Monday. Around 35 Muslims and 25 Jews started the “iftar” meal with dates followed by fish balls, challah rolls and salads. Rabbi Maurice Michaels, who sits on the executive committee of the Interfaith Network, said the event, which was co-ordinated with The Big Iftar group “was essential”. He added: “People were eating, talking and building relationships, breaking down prejudices and stereotypes. It’s important, especially with all the tension that’s going on in the Middle East at the moment. It’s not so easy to hurt each other when you know each other.”
