GOVERNMENT PLEDGE ON ROGUE YESHIVOT

THE DEPARTMENT for Education said it would continue taking “appropriate action” to persuade unregistered yeshivot in Stamford Hill, north London, to comply with the law.

The issue was highlighted in a Channel 4 documentary

on Monday night, following reports that as many as 1,000 boys could be being taught in unregistered institutions where they receive little or no secular education.

The DFE said that its regulatory role was “to ensure that the yeshivahs are either registered or dealt with by prosecution”.
