Laeti­tia lets it slip

GOLF Laeti­tia Beck’s first ma­jor ended in dis­ap­point­ment as she missed the cut at the Bri­tish Ladies Open at Royal Birk­dale.

Beck, 22, carded a six-over-par 78 in the first round fol­lowed by a 77, fail­ing to reach the clos­ing two rounds by five shots.

Play­ing in her first tour­na­ment as a pro, Beck, who grad­u­ated from Duke Univer­sity ear­lier this year, reg­is­tered three birdies in her sec­ond round.

She plans to at­tend qual­i­fy­ing school for both the LPGA and the Ladies Euro­pean Tour later this year, but needs to dis­cuss her IDF du­ties first.

“We all have to serve four years, and I want to serve, but I also think I can do more for my coun­try by play­ing golf,” she said.
