Finch­ley’s new rabbi is ‘ex­cited’ by chal­lenge

JEREMY LAWRENCE has taken up his post as se­nior rabbi at Finch­ley Sy­n­a­gogue af­ter nine years as chief min­is­ter of Sydney’s Great Sy­n­a­gogue.

Orig­i­nally from the UK, Rabbi Lawrence is a keen ed­u­ca­tor and is ac­tive in in­ter­faith work. He said it was “a great hon­our” to be suc­ceed Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis at the Kin­loss commu- nity. “It is an ex­cit­ing chal­lenge. I look for­ward to join­ing its ac­com­plished rab­binic team and bring­ing my ex­pe­ri­ence to the ser­vice of its com­mu­nity.”

Shul co-chairs Scott Saun­ders and Elaine Ren­shaw said the ap­point­ment “ush­ers in a new era for us and we look for­ward to mov­ing the com­mu­nity for­ward to­gether”.
