MANCHESTER WELFARE charity The Fed stepped into the breach when a Salford ex-servicemen’s care home was without laundry services during essential work to its premises.

The Fed was asked for help by Broughton House, which provides nursing care for elderly war veterans. The charities had previously forged links over employment issues.

Expressing gratitude, Broughton House’s Chris Thomas said he had been impressed by the way staff at The Fed’s Heathlands Village had responded.
